The End Of My Paradise

The End Of My Paradise

All of the best days of my summer have taken place at a beach.  I’m so lucky to live on an Island, where one only needs to take a short drive to find water.  My mother and I found this area out at Cabot, almost entirely down the beach, which is the definition of magical perfection.  It’s in a more sheltered area, so the water is wonderfully warm, and it drops from a sandbar into water that goes up to my neck.  We have been calling it our personal Island as no one else seems to be aware of its awesomeness.  I swear that there is something about swimming in the ocean that magically heals problems.

The summer is coming to a close and I’m not so much looking forward to it.  I love the Fall, but not the Winter.  I’m going to end up increasingly isolated, with no areas in nature to run off to and breathe.

Oh well, at least I got to have a few lovely moments in these difficult last few months.

Do any of you have an area in nature that makes everything feel a little better?

  1. Bet it’s beautiful, it sounds so luxurious to have what feels like your own private island. Maybe you can take some pictures for us, although its pretty gorgeous in my imagination!

Spring begins here tomorrow and the blossoms are out and smell heavenly, we had a picnic outside under the pink one and it was delightful, even when the dog got on the picnic rug and drank out if my glass, or maybe especially then ;)

I’m having a rough night so it’s nice to come and read this post, thank you.

  2. Sandy, I hope you are feeling better by now!

Spring sounds lovely – it’s getting dark and turning to Fall here. I am hunkering down for a long winter of hibernation!

I wish I could have taken pictures, but I doubt I’ll be back there this year! I wonder if the little Island will be there next year, or if it will get washed away. It was hands down the most wonderful and luxurious part of my summer though, and it’s as gorgeous as in your imagination!
