I have no idea what exactly I’ve done to my face, but I’m going to try to avoid repeating it in the future if I can figure out what happened…
I went to the beach for more hours than I would normally (roughly four…), and it was later in the day, because I highly dislike getting burnt. I put on a sunscreen based tinted moisturizer and then sunscreen regularly on top of that (both of which I have used all summer). It was a little windy outside, but not to the point that I felt I was being whipped in the face.
When I washed my face that night, it was painful, but I didn’t really think anything of it, as there was no sunburn, just some random cystic acne, courtesy of my less than stellar birth control that I have to take to keep my Endometriosis at bay. Come the next day, my face was in a ton of pain. It’s developed into this invisible rash, which I can feel when I run my hands over my skin. I can only wash my face by splashing water on it, as anything else is too painful. I’ve been moisturizing like crazy in the hopes that it will help ease the stinging.
Ever since the rash showed up, I’ve been hiding out in the house, as I don’t dare expose my face to any more sunlight. I haven’t been able to narrow it down to anything more than photosensitivity, or some kind of sun or wind rash, but again, it’s invisible. The only thing I can compare it to was the one time that I got a chemical burn on my face from using a product with too much salicylic acid, but I’ve never used harsh products since.
I’m rather perplexed by the whole thing, as it’s a rare experience for me, and rather uncomfortable. I think I’d like to avoid it in the future.
Does anyone have this happen to them? Anyone have a guess as to what it most likely is?
Beach times and sunshine…
Since the day I was born hahahaha

Some meds severely increase photosensitivity, so I would start there. Also, since you already have autoimmune stuff going on, consider other autoimmune illnesses like lupus?
I suffer from awful photosensitivity and I’ve found a product that helps, The Green Balm (by Moa?) Put that in my search engine on my blog and it should come up. Since you’re in Canada, you may have easy access to it. I ordered it from England.
Look for a healing balm? But what a bummer. Yeah, we have funky skin! But there’s absolutely nothing wrong with us!

Irene, I will definitely check out The Green Balm, always worth looking into things that may help!
And yes, my meds may, but none of them seem to heavily cause the problem. Lupus is always on my doctor’s radar, but it hasn’t been that yet!
