Pop Culture Wednesday

Pop Culture Wednesday

I’m going to make today a little different.

I want to hear about your best crafts, your favorite ways to be creative in order to let out some steam, and the like.

I know I blog, make art journals, collages, paintings, and poetry.  I’m thinking about getting into creating jewelry too…

What makes you girls (and guys!) relax?  What are you most proud of in terms of what you’ve created?  Knitting? Making clothes?

I’d love to know what creative pastimes you are working on!

Share, share, share!

Review: Yes To Carrots and Yes To Cucumbers

Review: Yes To Carrots and Yes To Cucumbers

Yesterday smacked me upside the head with a migraine so bad that I didn’t know if I was going to survive it…BRUTAL.

So instead, I’m going to talk about something that makes me a little happier!

Not too long ago, I invested in a Yes To Carrots bundle from asos.com.

This stuff has literally changed my skin.  I used to have mediocre, oily skin full of breakouts.  Ever since I started using these products, my skin is literally perfect.  I’ve never had such good skin in my life.  It makes it so soft and smooth and beautiful.  I’ve never been so impressed with a skin product!

They also have gems in other kinds – like the facial wipes from Yes To Cucumbers!

These feel amazing, and keep my skin just as nice when I’m away from home and all my facial products!

In addition, they have a line of Yes To Blueberries and a new line of Yes To Tomatoes!

I’m not one to typically review products I have bought, but my goodness this stuff is good!  It’s wayyyyy better than any migraine haha.

If you can find these products anywhere, I HIGHLY recommend you get them.  They aren’t the most expensive or cheap on the market, but they are natural gems.

Trust me on this one :) .

Hope everyone is feeling reasonably well!!

Things That Bug Me Mondays

Things That Bug Me Mondays
  • My inability to sleep without tossing and turning – all night every night
  • Relationships are work.  Sometimes it’s hard to remember that.
  • A 4 day stomachache
  • Feeling like my pills are working less and less :/
  • I need to stop thinking and start doing!
  • My inability to find a copy of the September Vogue around!  Can’t wait!
  • I think I should do an overhaul to my closet…maybe my body will accommodate the process!
  • I need to stop daydreaming of a life that may not happen for me…

Anything causing you to be less than 100% happy this week?  Do you want to talk about it?  I’m always a good listening ear.  It’s nice to not feel alone in the world.

Quotes of the Day – Mr. Marms Super Love Edition

Quotes of the Day – Mr. Marms Super Love Edition

Since Mr. Marms is a stray, I am declaring today his birthday!  He got mega extra snuggles and a can of tuna!

A happy arrangement: many people prefer cats to other people, and many cats prefer people to other cats.
Mason Cooley

Robert Southey

Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.

Stream of Consciousness Through Insomnia

Stream of Consciousness Through Insomnia

I’m up having insomnia due to jaw and teeth pain.  What else is knew in the life of Fibromyalgia?

Things I’m Thinking These Days:

  1. I need to get some kind of part-time job in my field so that I can feel like I’m contributing something…not that jobs work necessarily whenever one can’t sleep on a half regular schedule.
  2. The Internet is the best thing for trying to fall asleep late at night when I’m tossing and turning!  I can come out and snuggle with the cat and throw on an episode of Project Runway.
  3. I’m addicted to playing games on my iPad.
  4. I am working on some giant canvases to put around the apartment, which are taking quite a few man hours.
  5. Jaw pain is brutal and thank goodness for Voltaren gel (not that it’s taking it all away *tear*).
  6. I feel like eating ALL of the time!  What is up with that?!?
  7. Taking care of a house is seriously a borderline full-time job.
  8. HelloGiggles is my new favorite website.
  9. I’m thinking of doing an ombre manicure at 3 a.m. in the morning.
  10. I totally want to be reincarnated as a cat in a nice household.  I always want to be Mr. Marms.
  11. I should really take more painkillers and stop making myself suffer…and yet, I always feel like the pain is winning!
  12. My Tumblr makes my creative world go round: fragileannie.tumblr.com
  13. I need more sleep in my life…

Pop Culture Wednesday

Pop Culture Wednesday

Here are some of the things I’ve taken in over the past weeks!  I’m also in the midst of a great book, but I haven’t finished it yet so I won’t report on it!

Limitless:

This movie was cool in a lot of ways.  It used a lot of mind-boggling techniques and loud music to get one wrapped up in the action.  I loved seeing one of my fave girls – Abbie Cornish – in a major movie role, but she really had a lackluster part as her boyfriend chose the drug that makes him rich and powerful over her.  Let’s just say, if this drug existed, and didn’t have a side effect of death, we would all want it.  True to life in that form.  I’d say it’s about a 6.5 out of 10.

Be Kind Rewind:

Ugh.  This movie bored me half to death, and wasn’t even remotely funny.  Just soooooooo blah.  Some people might enjoy it if they are big fans of Jack Black, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

So You Think You Can Dance:

I LOVE this show, and the Canadian version as well.  These dancers are BEYOND talented, and it is literally like watching a show for which you would pay good money.  I know I would anyway…  Some of the dances even make me cry, as I’m obsessed with displays of art.  If everything in my life could be related to art, I would be a happy girl (minus the whole illness part…).  If you don’t watch this show – you are missing out.

What have you seen/read/heard lately that has rocked your world??  I always love suggestions as I’m a pop culture junkie!

When Good Politicians Die…

When Good Politicians Die…

It has just finally clicked in to me that Jack Layton has died.

I remember when the announcement was first made that he had cancer and was taking a leave of absence.  It hardly feels like more than a month ago…

He was such an inspiring individual in Canadian politics, managing to turn the entire country around to be minority NDP instead of minority Liberal.  Always wanting what was best for the Canadian people, Jack always had a huge smile on his face and a joyful presence.  In a world where everything seems too serious and scary, he was the shining light.

This is truly a Canadian tragedy, and if we are lucky, there will be someone in the NDP party who will have the strength and courage to take on stepping into Jack’s shoes and continuing his legacy.

R.I.P. Jack Layton

Do my fellow Canadians feel me on this one?

Things That Bug Me Mondays

Things That Bug Me Mondays

This week, I feel like my brain has just fallen out of my head.  Not all there this week, me thinks.

In terms of the quality of my week, it’s been hit and miss:

  • I dislike that high heels have to be so painful and so bad for Fibromyalgia, but yet so beautiful!
  • I hurt my hip and my tailbone at the beach :(
  • The HUMIDITY! I can’t wait until Fall.
  • Gaining weight – I need to get on this whole diet and better shopping plan (as this shirt I’m wearing is so unflattering all of a sudden!).  Maybe even pull a budget out of the hat while I’m busy…
  • Forgetting to take my meds at the right time (especially when I’m not on my typical schedule).  As soon as I’m a couple of hours late, the pain in my spinal cord just takes over.
Otherwise, it’s been a pretty good week!
I’ve managed to have an epic time in the waves at the beach, spent just the right amount of time curled up with the computer, and attended a beautiful wedding and reception of my cousin and his (now…) wife!
(Images from WeHeartIt)
What’s been running you down lately?  Share it with people and I guarantee you will feel a weight lifted from your shoulders.  If it’s been a great weekend, tell me what all you did!
Much love,
Annie

Wedding Weekend!

Wedding Weekend!

I spent the weekend being teary-eyed and having a great time with my family as my cousin Kyle got married!

Krista was the most beautiful bride I have EVER seen.  She was breathtaking.

It was one of those warm and fuzzy events that make your heart grow three sizes.

I just got home, and I am sleepy and dead to the world, but I just wanted to explain to you guys why the weekend blogging was so completely lackluster!

I hope you all have had good weekends with your family!

Annie
